You have taught your children some of the most important lessons in life. You taught them their ABC’s. They learned how to tie their shoes. You have even instilled good manners, as your kids say please and thank you when appropriate. But as parents, we tend to get hung up on so many of the elementary lessons that we forget to start working on the future. Your child may be too young to, say, balance a checkbook, but it’s never too early to instill basic money skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Why do you think parents originally started giving out allowance? It is to start teaching their kids about basic money saving and spending habits.

Here are a few basic steps you can take to start teaching your children about saving money.

1.) Find a Larger Goal for Them to Save For

Is there a large toy or video game that your child has his eye on? Work with your child to help him reach his goal. Draw a thermometer or piggy bank with different levels of cash marked on the side. As your child reaches these goals, fill in the graph. Your child will be able to visually see his progress on the wall.

2.) Match Their Savings

If your child is saving up for an exceptionally large purchase, they can be easily frustrated or discouraged — it’s hard to reach $50 or $100 when you’ve only got a $5 allowance! To keep their hopes up, tell them you’ll match them dollar for dollar: every time they place a dollar in the piggy bank, you’ll put one in too. It’s an external way of encouraging your child to save.

If your child is a teenager, you may want to lower the percentage point. If they’re saving for a car, tell them you’ll match their savings 25% — but if they’re saving for college, you probably want to go as high as 50-100%.

3.) Find Online Lessons and Support

The Internet is full of savvy parents and financiers willing to help out fellow parents. Sites like adstalker.com can help you brainstorm future lesson plans or learn about the importance of helping your child understand basic finance skills.

Learning to save money is every bit as important as ABC’s and 123′s. We teach our children mathematics and spelling to prepare them for the future. Shouldn’t we do the same with basic life skills?

Money management has become increasingly more important in today’s society. Money saved can also mean money spent in today’s market. Here are a few tips and hints to help you budget your money in a positive fashion.

Spending

To understand how to spend money correctly, you must first figure out where you currently spend it. The amount you are spending and where you spend your money will help you save later by creating a budget list or expenditure list. This is important because you can categorize your spending habits and see where you might be able to cut back if you need to do so. It will allow you to see where most of your finances go and it will let you pinpoint areas where you might need to supplement. For instance if you can find the same products somewhere else for less it might be in your best financial interest to shop at the other place.

Changing Habits

Many people often spend out of habit rather than to budget. Eating out is certainly easier than cooking at home but it is more expensive. So it is a good idea to find a comparable solution, like setting aside a certain amount for eating out and/or extracurricular activities and you will notice your expenditures change.

Traveling

Traveling to different areas can be expensive, whether you are visiting or moving. It might be a good idea to research on US States where you can Stretch your Dollar before you plan your trip. This way you can find a spot that is both affordable and luxurious for you. This will also allow a more regimented plan for your stay while possibly leaving a bit of room for those little unexpected detours.

Planning Together

When you live with someone else, be it your spouse, parents, or otherwise, it is important to work on the budget plans together. If only one person is working towards a budget where they are in a shared budget and/or income situation, it is hard to actually accomplish anything. Discussing the budget and the household expenses can be beneficial for all parties involved because it allows more accurate details to be given for the budget, and it defines who is spending more and on what. It also allows a surplus to be divided evenly or in a way that both parties can agree on. Like in any relationship, support means success.

Teens are notoriously hard to buy gifts for. First, they already seem to have everything. Second, they are incredibly finicky. Third, the items teens want, often cost way more than our budgets allow. But take heart, whether you’re shopping for the Sweet Sixteen or the Nifty Nineteen, gift-buying help is here for you.

Image from Flickr

Connect Them with Friends

Keeping in touch with close pals is important for teens. Show them you support their relationships with a cell phone that keeps them connected. The [INFOGRAPHIC] Android Market Evolution, with open source code, has spawned the development of a whopping 300,000 available apps for download. Teens can do everything from keeping tabs on their purchases to getting instant weather alerts with the new smartphones. Affordable plans are available to keep the budget in check, and permit your teen to have some freedom. You’ll also feel safer knowing they have a reliable way to contact you when they’re away from home.

Entertain Them

Music and movies are also important to teens. Much of the enjoyment is social – they enjoy sharing the newest bands, stars, and gossip with their friends. Whether your teen is a Star Wars junkie or a Gleek, keep them updated on their favorite music and movies with the latest MP3 player, or video download machine. New devices and services are developed constantly, some services offer a set price for unlimited music or movie downloads each month. Other services charge a reasonable fee per download. Consider supplementing the gift with a month of free music or movie downloads.

Encourage Reading

Music and movies are great, but we also want educated kids who like to read. Give your teen the gift of access to thousands of titles, from the classics of Mark Twain, to the newest “Twilight” books. Barnes and Noble offers the Nook, and Amazon offers the popular Kindle. Many titles are past copyright dates, and are completely free for download. Many more books are available for only one dollar or less. One of the niftiest things about these ebook devices is instant access to the newest must-have novel as soon it is made available to the public.

Still Stuck?

A budget friendly gift for the finicky teen is a sampler of fragrances. Many designers offer gift sets for girls or boys. These designers allow the teen to sample each fragrance from the designer’s label, sometimes for a fraction of what a full bottle of cologne or perfume costs.

Gift cards are an alternative to the cop-out gift of cash. If your teen enjoys Abercrombie and Finch, Old Navy or American Eagle Outfitters, give them a gift card from their favorite store. It shows you know them well enough to choose their favorite shop, but doesn’t dictate what they settle for when they open their gifts.

Divorce is never fun for anyone. It is a sad and frustrating event, especially if you’ve been with the person for a long time. Even though you and your partner are the ones who should settle the problem, your child might be the one who suffers the most. If you and your spouse have chosen to go your separate ways, you need to consider what claims are made available to you and especially your child.

Image via Wikipedia

Tax Credits

After a divorce, you have to be aware that your financial and tax situations will change. If you have received full custody of your child, you can claim earned income credit, child tax credit, and other child-related tax breaks. There are tax situations that allow you to file jointly or split exemptions, but both parties should reach a common agreement. This may be an opportune time to consult a Bergen County Divorce Attorney.

Child Support

This payment is made by either parent to support his/her child. Typically, whoever has the full custody or who is deemed worthy of custody is the one going to receive this legal obligation. Remember that a child support payment is non-taxable.

Joint Custody

If you claim joint custody with your spouse and you feel you don’t see your child enough, you can request more time. This is done by keeping records. You need to indicate how often you see your child, how long they remain with you, and how many times you have missed seeing your child. Some parents may feel that once a week or twice a month isn’t enough, especially if your child is taking the divorce hard.

You should also be aware that in joint legal custody, both parents have the right to their child’s records (e.g. medical, education, etc.) But, if you and your ex-spouse have filed for joint custody, then you view these records for the best interest of your child.

You may be pre-occupied dealing with the long, complicated process of divorce that you forget the welfare of your child. Keep in mind that despite all the legal issues, your child will require more attention and a lot of support from both of you. Divorce can be very hard on a child, and they may even feel it is his fault. Help him understand the reason of your separation. Talk with your child to reassure him the separation is not his fault.

Image via Wikipedia

Deciding whether or not to divorce your spouse isn’t an easy thing to do. At one time, you loved each other enough to commit for the rest of you lives. You and your spouse are needed by your children. But if you are unhappily married and realize there is no “easy button” to fix the issues in your marriage, your only choice is divorce. There are many changes that come with divorce and some are not bad. There are a few ways divorce can benefit you.

Improve Your Health

Living in a miserable, stressful situation day-in and day-out isn’t good for you health-wise. Everyone knows that stress is harmful to your health. Long-term exposure to stress can cause headaches, stiff and sore muscles, and may even lead to a debilitating stroke or a fatal heart attack. A stress overload makes you irritable, frustrated, and exhausted. Co-workers and friends may find it difficult being near you.

Getting a complete and total divorce will reduce some of the daily stress that you’ve been dealing with. Living without daily confrontation in a positive environment will lighten your load and your mood. Your personality will change for the better and your outlook may be more optimistic.

Make Better Decisions

If you own a business, once divorced, your partner will no longer have any holdings in your business. If divorce terms granted him or her a certain percentage of your business, you can buy your ex out, making it entirely yours. You’ll be able to expand, alter, or move if you choose without any complications.

Once single, your spouse will have no bearing in any legal decisions. He or she will not be able to make decisions regarding your mental or physical care. Would you want someone who despises you to decide whether to pull your body off life support?

Benefits for Your Children

A toxic environment isn’t good for kids at all; divorcing will lessen their stress as well. Once the initial shock is over, they will adjust and return to normal, fun-loving children.

Afterwards, children will learn responsibility by having to take homework and other school projects back and forth between homes. They will learn to communicate effectively making sure both parents know pertinent information about events or sports activities. If and when someone new enters the picture, kids will learn to relate to new people; even if it’s someone they don’t necessarily want to relate with.

Ending a marriage isn’t painless or simple. If you’re sure it’s time to move on, make the leap and look forward to the benefits to being divorced.

Travelling to the upper northwest corner of the United States, to Oregon, Portland in particular? It could be a business trip, whether it is for setting up a new venture, or for training and improving an already established company. It could also be a vacation or family visit, including a tour of museums, outdoor treks, and of course, boutique shopping spree. Portland has a lot to offer, not only for the weary travelling businessman, but also to enthusiastic tourists from different parts of the globe.

Image via Wikipedia

Once you decide to travel to Portland, you can now start to work out important details of the trip. How many people will you be going with? Is this a family vacation or a business trip? Is air travel involved? A trip to Portland can involve a drive up the coast for some, and yet for others means a flight across the country. While the attractions of Portland can certainly make it a desirable vacation destination, getting there is another game altogether.

Image via Wikipedia

Can you get cheap tickets to Portland? How do you find them? The travel part of the trip is a large part of the vacation or business budget. If you or a member of your immediately family travels for business, frequent flyer miles are always a great way to save money on the trip. Those who are not frequent flyers may not be aware of the benefits that this could bring. If you are a seasoned traveler, make sure to keep track of those miles, use them before they expire to save on your travel expenses.

The Internet is truly the information super highway. The deals are there for the taking. One search will bring up many, many sites offering good deals on airfare. The key to getting the best deal is to know where to look. Take the time to visit the sites on the Internet. Make sure you read the fine print. There are as many scams as there are good deals. Check out the reviews by other people, check the reputation of the site. If you have to give a credit card number, make sure you are dealing with a secure site.

As with any good deal, taking the time to research the best deals and becoming familiar with the details of each will make sure that you get the best deal, at the best price. The business trip will run smoothly, and the vacation will just that much more relaxing and fun, with the knowledge that you were able to do it for less.

We never know when financial difficulty can hit us. With the recent economic wobble, most people don’t have any extra resource left for emergencies when such circumstances come up. This leaves you with few options just to recompense the burden of financial downfall. Where else some tend to borrow from their friends, others borrow from the traditional banks or other lending services.

But we all know that these have drawbacks such as credit policies, bunch of paper works and other requirements like credit history and borrowers legibility of paying back loan. If you’re in dire need of money, and you don’t have any option to think of, there are lenders that provide payday loans or cash loans for quick money during an emergency.

Consider Payday Loans

Payday loans, such as those from Paydayone.com, are usually given by banks and private loan agencies in either online or offline transactions. Applying for a personal installment loan is a good option for anyone that needs quick cash every now and then during emergency situations. These loans are accessible and there are no unexpected expenses, but simple equal periodic payments.

Some lenders consider borrowers with few assets as long as they have low credit history. The payments are fairly low, so you can settle your loan as long as you know how to handle finances. When your loans are already paid up, you‘ll have the chance to receive loans with lower interest rates.

Things You Need to Know About Loan Approval

Needless to say, there are instances when payday applications are declined. This is not to discourage borrowers but rather, the sustainability of the business. Before you can borrow money from payday loan services, it is imperative that you’re currently employed or else, you’ll be refused for getting a loan.

This also applies to your repayment history. If the bank finds out that your payment history is poor, it is more likely that you will not get your requested loan. Another reason that will get your loan refused will be the maximum amount of loan you need, yet you have a low income or poor credit history. So before you decide on the amount your borrowing, think it over and arrange on a lower amount of loan.

While there are personal loan agencies or banks that run credit check for personal loans, others are exceptional for borrowers who have disability or social security funds. Plus, they can use their personal installment loan to build a good impression as they pay it off and acquire larger loans in the future.

Life is full of all sorts of uncertainties. Unexpected expenses can seriously affect the financial stability of those who do not have enough money to attend to such circumstances. Millions of people are now turning to installment loans to pay for unforeseen expenses such as medical bills, car repair and other expenses that cannot be delayed any further. Here are a few things you need to remember before applying for an emergency loan.

Image via Flickr

When to Use Installment Loans

Short-term loans are ideal for those who are in need of a small amount of cash to tide them over for a short period of time. People do not only apply for these loans to get their cars fixed or pay for medical care. Some of them also prefer taking out short-term loans to avoid the exorbitant fees of bounced checks. Installment loans are great for all things that just can’t wait until your next payday arrives.

If you have to pay for emergency expenses, taking out an emergency loan is definitely a great option. Having access to quick cash is definitely necessary, so you and your family can get through the emergency situation without having to worry about incurring much debt. Emergency expenses such as unexpected hospital bills and much-needed home repairs due to disasters can be easily covered when you apply for an installment loan.

Why Should You Apply for a Short-term Loan?

Aside from being faster to process and easier to repay, you will also get a lot of benefits from an emergency cash loan. For one, it can help you maintain good credit scores by helping make your credit payments on time. These loans are also cheaper than the usual overdraft fees that banks charge, so it is better to apply for a loan instead of overdrawing some checks in times of urgent need.

The best thing about short-term loans is that you can also submit your application online. For instance, you can get a personal loan from Plain Green Loans through their quick, simple and secure online application. You will get a reply in seconds, so you will immediately find out if your application was approved. You can then expect your funds will be deposited to your checking account in as early as two days.

When it comes to any financial emergency, installment loans are always your best option. All you need to do is find the official website of a reputable lending company and provide them will all the information they need to process your loan application.

If you’re thinking about getting away on a vacation, you have probably given a lot of thought to your ideal destination. You know what areas you want to visit, what tours you want to take, and what performances you want to see. However, after the museums close and the concerts are over, have you thought about where you plan to rest your weary head? The amount of time spent at a hotel on vacation is considerable, so this little decision can actually be the thing that makes or breaks your vacation experience. Here are a few things to consider when booking your accommodations.

Image via Wikipedia

Is it Close to the Main Attractions?

If you plan to do a lot of sightseeing, make sure your hotel is near the places you want to visit. If you have to drive a long way or spend a lot of time on public transportation to reach that beach or that theme park, you’ll be wasting a big chunk of your day that would be better spent enjoying your vacation.

Are You Traveling With Pets?

If you bring your furry friend along, make sure your hotel allows pets. Many hotels require an extra fee for having a dog or cat in your room. If you are traveling with a dog, be sure to pick a room that has easy access to the outdoors, so that your pet is comfortable.

Are There Things for the Kids to Do?

You might not want to spend every waking hour out and about while on vacation, so it is important to choose a hotel that has plenty for kids to do. For many kids, the highlight of the vacation is the hotel pool, so make sure your hotel has one! Let the kids kick back and watch TV in the hotel room. If you’re going out and leaving the kids to entertain themselves for a while, make sure that the TV offers parental control options so that you have some control over your children’s media selections. Some hotels allow you to rent video game consoles and games, which is always a hit with the kids.

Image via Wikipedia

What Amenities are Offered?

If your vacation is longer than a few days, it might be a good idea to rent a room with a kitchenette so that you don’t have to eat at a restaurant every night. You can prepare dinner or pack a lunch if your room offers this kitchen amenity. In the very least, having a fridge in your room allows you to keep groceries, water bottles and leftover food cold. Does the hotel offer wi-fi internet access to your room? Is a free breakfast part of the package? These considerations may influence your choice of hotel.

You might think it’s hard to get a hotel that has everything you want for a reasonable price, but booking last minute hotels can make staying in your ideal hotel much more affordable. Make the most of your vacation by staying in a hotel that meets your needs.

Why do parents help their child in doing the homework? Don’t parents know that homework is something that their child ought to do on his or her own? You should choose the educational institution of your child with a lot of care. If teachers cover 10% of the curriculum in school and hand over the rest as homework, it is obvious that you have chosen the wrong institution for your child.

However, if bulk of curriculum is covered in school and practice tests are handed over to the child as homework, you would be making a big mistake by interfering in the process. Many parents make the mistake of comparing the homework they used to do with the homework given to their child. Well, you were 10 years old more than a decade ago. In such a scenario, expecting the level of educational standards to stay the same for many decades at a stretch does not make sense.

The most harmful consequence of interfering in homework is that your child finds a reason to criticize the curriculum and the educational system. You may not be comfortable with the current system but you are aware that there’s no escaping the same. On the other hand, your child may conclude that simply criticizing stuff is enough to escape ones obligations. Sooner or later, the child will have to wear the consequences of poor grades.

If you feel that your child is getting too much homework, try having a word with the teachers. However, make sure you do not undermine the authority of the teachers and the educational institution by criticizing it in front of your child.

Life can be very convenient for those new mothers who have their parents or in-laws to take care of the child. The new mother can go back to office without any worries or fears. However, one cannot just stay at home just because one does not have a caretaker for the child, right?

There are numerous individuals and organizations that specialize in taking care of the baby when the mother’s at work. You just have to choose one such baby care organization. Handing over your child in the hands of a third person who is prepared to look after the child for money may seem like a dangerous decision. What if the individual turns out to be very careless? What if the individual focuses on money alone and ignores your baby? These fears are rational.

A professional organization involved in baby care will acknowledge these fears and will try to help you overcome the same. Does the organization have a website? If yes, log on to the internet and find out what they have to say about their duties and responsibilities. Simply writing fancy stuff on the internet is easy. Implementing this in real life can be very difficult.

Make sudden visit to the organization and find out how they are implementing their policies. Do this before you enroll your child into their care. Have a word with other individuals who are working despite having a baby. Check out references and testimonials before taking a final decision. If you do this right, you can easily satisfy yourself about the safety and comfort of your child before leaving for work.

New mothers often have to make a heartbreakingly emotional decision soon after the birth of the child. The new mother will have to decide when she should get back to work. The idea of leaving the child in the care of a third person for a specific number of hours every day may be a heart wrenching thought. However, the pragmatist inside you will tell you that earning more money for financial stability is the best way to give a decent life for your child.

Once you have decided to get back to work, you should implement your decision in gradual stages. You may have hesitated to let the baby out of your sight for even a single second in the past few months. However, you must prepare the baby to live without you for a few hours every day. This is not going to happen overnight.

Try spending time away from the baby even when you’re in the same room. The child may not be in a position to communicate with you but that does not mean he or she cannot see you in the room. Once you move to an adjacent room, he or she can listen to your voice. Do not be surprised if the baby reacts violently against your decision.

As time goes by, the baby will get used to living without you for a few hours. Try behaving as if you are at work and stay away throughout the office hours without going to office. Once you’re satisfied that the child is prepared, you can rejoin work and focus on giving a better life to your baby.

The smell in your new home is funny, like an old, wet rag that has not seen the light of day in years, nor breathed any of its air. You know you have mold and it seems to be coming from behind the bathroom wall. What can you do, and how do you know if the mold is toxic?

These ideas will help.

Other than the strange smell, you may notice damp areas or mold growing in your bathroom tile. Dark circular stains on your ceiling or walls are a good indicator that you have toxic mold. Mold starts out kind of fuzzy and then turns pink or orange before it turns a toxic black, so pay attention to the stage your mold is in. Taking care of it early is always the safest solution.

Toxic mold may create watery eyes, congestion, and tiredness; symptoms that mimic allergies. If you are out and about and feel great only to return home and feel ill, you may want to check for the presence of mold.

Get some help from an attorney that specializes in accident injury in Los Angeles California or a lawyer in a city near you .

Hire a professional to check for toxic mold even if you only “believe” you have it. A professional will see things you will miss and know where to look for things that are not even considered in your realms of imagination.

Sure, a new home shouldn’t have toxic mold, but you’re not always told everything by the old owner. The ideas above should help you get through it.

Many women who work want to leave the workplace behind and become a stay-at-home mom. While many of these women envision a more peaceful, more calm environment that their workplace, they may be a bit surprised at the amount of activity and energy required from stay-at-home moms.

Following are a few tips on helping women who may be making the transition from career woman to at-home mom.

Enjoy your new freedom. Also, enjoy yourself as you start doing all those activities you may have dreamed of such as walks in the park, visit to the library and so on.

Be prepared that you may soon tire of that freedom. You may find yourself wondering if anything new will happen today. Simply start planning new activities into your schedule to alleviate any stagnant feelings.

You may begin to feel isolated. You may also feel isolated from the “real world” because your day used to be filled with constant communication. Set aside time for adult communication that can help overcome these feelings.

You may have to accept a new identity. If you were a “working mom”, you will now have to accept your new identity as a “stay-at-home mom.” You may also need to develop another identity outside of the home, such as having a part-time job or other ways to express your identity apart from that of mother.

Make sure you have a routine — just like in the workplace. You should strive to wake up at the same time every day, shower and dress (including makeup and hair).

With just a little thought, you can make this transition and easy and satisfactory one for your family.

As a parent, you want to make sure you child is successful in school. This will ensure that he or she is prepared to enter higher education or a successful career path. However, your child has advanced so far in school that you may not feel prepared to continue to help your child with homework; or perhaps your child needs specialized tutoring to either help or advance their skills in a particular area.

However, private tutoring or specialized help can be expensive; but there are free options out there for your child. Here are some tips on finding free tutoring.

Research tutoring options at your child’s school, as they may know of free resources. In addition, the “No Child Left Behind Law” may require your school provide free tutoring in some circumstances.

Your local library may offer homework or tutoring programs. These programs are usually offered as an online resource and can be used at the library or at home.

Churches, community centers and other community agencies may also offer tutoring programs.

If you live near a college or university, check with them as they may have a teachers-in-training program that offers tutoring or homework help as part of the teaching program.

Check out online resources. Use search terms such as “free online tutoring services.”

You can also use other online resources to advance your search for homework help by using specific search terms. You can search for solving a particular type of math problem or a specific English term.

There are many resources that can help you find free or very inexpensive options to help your child.

You may find yourself trying to help your child who is struggling to get through and complete his or her homework assignments. This may be because he or she does not understand the subject or may be confused. This can lead to your child being demoralized and not wishing to complete the assignments. Unfortunately, teachers do not always have the time to answer all individual questions.

As a parent, there are ways you can help, such as organizing a study group or a homework club. This will help all participants with homework and will provide support and encouragement for all involved. Here’s how to start a homework club to help your child:

Plan the location and time of the first group meeting. You may need to reserve space if this meeting will be taking place outside your home.

Gather email addresses and phone numbers of the other parents and contact them about a week before the first scheduled meeting. Let them know of your homework club plans, as well as the time and place. Also, find out from them the subjects their child will need help with.

Get other parents on board to help with the study group.

Organize study materials such as paper and pencil the day before the first group meeting.

At the beginning of the first session talk to the children to find out the subjects they most need help. Then divide the participants into groups led by a parent. These groups can focus on different subjects.

At the end of the session, make sure everyone knows the time, date and place of the next meeting.

When you’re used to having a house, the move to an apartment can seem like a serious downgrade. For children and teens, any big move can be a source of depression, especially if they have to leave behind things like the yard that they grew up playing in, or a big bedroom. It should come as no surprise then that the best possible way to ease the transition between a house and an apartment is to maintain a positive attitude and involve everyone affected by the move.

Change Isn’t Always Bad

Look on the bright side: less space will give you and your family a chance to get rid of the excess stuff that everyone accumulates when they have enough space to store it. If you don’t use it, you probably don’t need it. The stuff you keep will be better organized. Talk about the other positive aspects of moving around your kids.

Make Moving a Family Activity

Pack together. When looking at apartments for rent, go as a family and let the kids help decide where their new home will be. Do walkthroughs together and let everyone get familiar with the apartment before you move in. Talk about where the kids will work on their school projects and other homework.

Keep the Familiar Things

Kids often feel uprooted when they move into a new place. Take along their favorite toys, clothing, even photos to hang on the walls, to make the apartment feel like home.

Making moving into a family affair will make the switch from house to apartment much easier on everyone.

Teaching your child responsibility is a major undertaking – especially in a world where many children and teenagers feel entitled to just about anything they want. The truth is that implementing a system designed to teach your child responsibility will help them become more successful. Start with homework help and school projects or budgeting and see if your job doesn’t become a bit easier.

Budgeting is often a good place to start when trying to educate a child about responsibility. Many working moms find that by working with their child on a budget, they can teach a variety of life skills. For example, a young girl may want expensive doll shoes and clothing for their favorite dolly. Instituting chores and an allowance, as well as a savings plan will teach the child about saving, planning, budgeting, and rewards.

You can use homework help and school projects as a responsibility building tool as well. Simply develop a routine in which the child must set aside an hour, or more if needed, each day to devote to school work. If the child has none, the time can be spent reading or working on an extra project. Implementing this program early can help instill personal responsibility in any child.

It is equally important to have ‘unpaid’ chores. Providing each child with a list of chores they are expected to do without a monetary award helps foster a feeling of independence in the child and may be the most effective way to teach responsibility.

When you’re a hardworking parent and attempting to provide for your family, sometimes you have to “go without,” meaning that you have to sacrifice the things that you want, in favor of the things that you need, or that your family needs. It isn’t fun to go without all of the things that make you happy, like buying your favorite brands of clothing for example, and so often the best course of action is to budget for these items, and to buy them when your budget can reasonably support it.

Budgeting for Name Brands

Create a goal, such as deciding to buy a piece of Coogi clothing once per month. Set a financial goal, such as being allowed to spend a specific amount of money on that piece. Then work on saving enough money throughout the month to make this goal a reality. Unless you are living paycheck to paycheck and hand to mouth, and cannot reasonably afford to put a few dollars away per week toward this goal, it should not take much time or effort to save up enough money to buy the piece of clothing that you are lusting after this month.

Create a new goal every month, and add a nice piece to your wardrobe each month. This will allow you to have the wardrobe you dream of without having to break the bank in the process. A little scrimping and saving can really go a long way in helping you to achieve your fashion wardrobe dreams once and for all.

Many parents struggle with the fact after finding out they are expecting what lies ahead of them with regards to income. More often then not it’s not always beneficial to have two working parents. Many questions will run through your mind such as: Will the husband work? Will the mom have to work? Will daycare expenses be worth the mother working, or does ?

The best way to figure this all out is figure out if it’s worth having the mother work. By doing that you need to figure out the cost of the total paycheck you would receive, and then deduct gas, daycare expenses, meal expenses, ect.

By having a working mother in the household, obviously it helps the family not to have such a financial strain. Also, by both parents working the duties and responsibilities of the household are more often then not shared by the two parents. Fathers will take on more duties then they are given credit for.

Some working mothers find difficulty in assuming the role of mother at home, then working a fulls day of work at work, then coming home to do it all over again. The following are some times to help in managing the roles of both. Try to meditate or relax for small intervals throughout the day. Even if it means taking a short walk on your lunch break. Get everyone involved with the duties and responsibilities around the house. Have the kids clean up the dishes after dinner. Don’t overanalyze things during the week. If it can wait until the weekend let it. Most importantly is to make sure to make time for you.

Everyone knows that being debt-free is important, but it’s hard to get there. Taking a hard look at your finances and cutting what isn’t a necessity is one of the best ways to start the process. Maybe you’re one of the few lucky ones who has gotten to the debt-free stage. That’s great, but remember, the key is to stay away from debt, if possible.

Sometimes, if you don’t have enough to cover the necessities, you have the option of payday loans. The application process is fast and painless, and within minutes you’ll have the extra cash you need. Paying off the loan is just as simple—you do it with your next paycheck.

One of the best tips for staying out of debt is to look at what you spend outside of your fixed expenses. Remember that electricity bills will vary each month, but they still need to be paid. The same goes for phone bills. Looks what you spend elsewhere, and get rid of the things you don’t need.

If you allow yourself to spend only so much on certain items, you’ll save more money than you think. Budget yourself, and stick to your budget unless you absolutely cannot. Most people make a budget, but don’t follow it, resulting in unnecessary spending.

Whenever possible, don’t use credit cards. Most of them come with high interest rates, making what you pay in finance charges a killer. Pay off your cards and cancel the accounts as soon as possible. If you need to keep a card or two, be sure to only use them if you absolutely need to.

The American economy is still suffering from real estate meltdown, balance sheet crisis and almost 22% unemployment according to many free market think tanks. In the middle of this great recession most American families are facing increasing difficulties paying their monthly mortgage and car loans.

Americans are hoping with good reason that the historical trends in real estate appreciation will continue so that after the recession is over, their home values will exceed their mortgage payments. But cars are a different matter, and except for a few rare collector cars, all lose their value over time, whether it is a Ford or a Ferrari.

Most American families are stuck with unaffordable car loans which exceed the recommended 10% of their monthly income and therefore 2011 is an exciting year for car refinance loans before the Federal Reserve raises interests rates to control the inflationary crises due to its loose monetary policies.

Families can do two things. First they should negotiate with the bank for lower interest rates. If the existing interest rate on their car loan is between 5% to 8%, they should try to bring it down between 1% and 4% through aggressive bargaining and shopping. A good credit history and refinancing the loan during the first quarter of the payment period would bring better success.

Lower monthly payments must be aggressively pursued by many families, such as working moms who need every extra dollar available. Lowering interest rates or extending car loans by a year or two can reach that goal. That way there is more money available for important family needs.

Helping your child make better use of his time and stay focused on his schoolwork may be as simple as helping your child organize his time better. Good organizational skills are important for school and life. If your child learns to organize his time when he is young he will learn an important life skill that will help him in all areas of his life as he grows.

Help your child get into the habit of using a checklist or make a “to-do” list. Your child could have lists that help him organize homework assignments or reminders of items to take to class the next day. As your child crosses items off his list it will give him a sense of accomplishment and keep him focused on the remaining assignments.

Before your child begins his homework for the day, have him number assignments in order of importance of which assignments should be completed first. Assignments that are due first should be at the top of the list. Completing difficult assignments first will ensure that these get done before your child is tired of working on schoolwork.

Have a designated space for studying and completing schoolwork. This should be a place that allows your child to work free of distraction. It should be well lit and allow him the space he needs to lay out his work. When your child is young, you may be able to find him a place to study near wherever you will be so he can have your nearby and get help when needed. For example, your child could possibly study at the kitchen table while you are preparing dinner.

Most people waste a lot of time doing menial things or simply doing nothing, yet complain that they do not have time for important tasks. It may simply be that these people need to organize their time and their homes. Even utilizing five minutes a day to accomplish tasks rather than wasting those minutes will gain you an additional seven hours a month in constructive use of your time!

While your popcorn is in the microwave or when you have another three minutes when you are not doing anything constructive in the kitchen you could organize that day’s mail, organize a drawer and throw away unused lids or containers without lids, do a quick inventory of the refrigerator and toss out old or unusable foods, toss out your expired coupons, take out the trash, or empty the dishwasher.

While you are filling the bathtub or have a few extra minutes to spare you can accomplish a few tasks in the bathroom. Toss dirty towels in the laundry and hang out clean ones, organize your makeup drawer and toss out expired mascara and eyeliner, clean the toilet, or organize your hair accessories.

When you are sitting around “zoning out” in the living room watching television you can still make use of wasted time. During commercial breaks take a couple of minutes for some quick projects. Organize a DVD shelf and make a stack to donate to your local Goodwill of movies you no longer watch or your children have outgrown, pull toys, change, and lost socks out of the couch cushions, recycle old magazines, or do a few leg lifts or calisthenics to get your circulation moving and make good use of your time!

Finding the balance between work and home is challenging enough, but when you work out of your home it can become even more of a challenge. With some planning and organization, it can be done. The most important aspect of finding a balance is reminding yourself and others that although you do not get dressed up and drive to an office every day, that your job is still a “real” job.

The best way to balance family, home, and job is to organize your life. This means organizing your time, your schedule, and your family’s responsibilities. Use chore charts and calendars to keep everyone on track. Set a specific time when you are “at work” each day and stick to your schedule whenever possible. Keep everyone, family and friends alike, informed of your schedule. Request all social visits to be done outside of your work time frame. Coordinate with your spouse that he manages all kid-related issues when you are working and he is at home.

Setting aside a separate room or area of the house that is your “office” and only working in that area will help keep you focused on work. If you feel as though you need to set aside time during the day to accomplish household tasks, then set your schedule in a way that makes this possible. For example, if you need to work an 8-hour day, get up and work for 4 hours in the morning then take a 2-hour break and work on projects around the house. Set a timer if necessary to keep you on track. After your break go back to work and work another 4 hours.

A college education is expensive enough without the many financial pitfalls waiting for the unwary student. From increasing tuition rates to an occasional night out, a four-year degree can turn into years of payments. However, following these tips can go a long way towards minimizing your expenses:

Reserve Credit Cards for True Emergencies

While it can be handy to have a credit card during a crisis, the casual use of credit translates into deep debt for many students. If you succumb to the temptation of easy credit while you’re still in school, place the card in a secure area where you’ll have to think twice before swiping. Otherwise, carrying it around in your pocket could mean dollar beer night at the local hot spot becomes a weekly emergency.

Use a Prepaid Card

Everyone recognizes cash is somewhat pass in the modern world, but this doesn’t mean you have to use a credit card. Although most banks can provide a debit card with any account, it can be a pain to deposit those paper checks your parents send or wait for a bank transfer when you’re searching for loose change. With a pre-paid credit card, you can have the best of both worlds. Use it like a credit card, and you or your parents can easily recharge it from any bank account. As a bonus, you can even avoid transfer fees with the REACH card. Unlike some other cards, REACH never charges a fee for this service.

Pay Your Bill in Full

If you do have an emergency that warrants the use of a credit card, pay the balance in full before the grace period ends to avoid finance charges and protect your credit rating. When applying for the card, take the time to read the agreement in full. Some cards have restrictions on purchases that could eliminate the grace period. This means the company may start charging interest as soon as the charge is applied to your account.

Shop Around for the Best Bank

All banks are not equal when it comes to account fees. Frequently, students can get a better deal for their specific needs at a smaller bank. If you use your debit card frequently, look for an account without limits and low fees for ATM withdrawals. Choosing a bank with convenient locations can also reduce the amount of fees paid when using foreign ATM machines. Above all else, college students should look for banks without minimum balance requirements and low overdraft fees.

Limit Your Spending

You’ll never have control of your finances if you can’t limit your spending. To start, track every penny you spend for 30 days. Next, categorize each purchase and create a realistic budget. If you’re shocked by how much you spend on lattes or nights out, cut back on those areas. As you reduce your expenses, add to your savings account so that you can fall back on your nest egg instead of a credit card when necessary.

By spending wisely, you can earn a college degree without unnecessary debt and develop financial responsibility. What was your favorite way to save a buck while you were in school?

What many women fail to realize when they are fantasizing about the benefits of working from home is that there are also many challenges as well. Working from home can be just as difficult, sometimes more difficult, than working outside of the home. Although by addressing issues as they arise and finding a balance can result in success.

First, when working from home it is important to have “office” space set aside somewhere in the home where you can work without interruption. If you are not on a schedule through your employer, you need to set a specific schedule for work each day. Of course there will be times when you will need to have some flexibility and rearrange your schedule, but for the most part you need to have set hours that you will be working. Inform friends and relatives that when you are working you cannot be interrupted for trivial things. Ask them to save their phone calls and visits for other times of day.

As tempting as it is to not send your children to daycare when you are working from home, to stay focused on your work and be able to give your full attention to your job, it may be necessary for your child to attend daycare at least part of the time. However, you may be able to arrange your schedule around times when your husband is home and can watch the children, work during nap times, or save your work until children are in bed for the night or before they wake up in the morning.

The most important thing to remember when helping your child with his science fair project is to not do your child’s project for him! Allow your child to make mistakes and present a less-than-perfect project is okay. Mistakes are part of science and need to be seen as part of the process. Helping your child come up with ideas or assisting with experiments is fine. However, stepping in doing the work for your child is not only cheating it robs your child of the experience of doing the project by himself.

Science fairs can be stressful on a child. Your child may not have an aptitude for science or may have an interest but lack self-confidence in his ability to have a successful project. It is your job as the parent to encourage your child and to help him have a positive experience with his science fair project. Be positive about your child’s work. Do not expect your fifth grader to have as in-depth or sophisticated of a project as a high school student.

Be honest. If you do not know the answer, tell your child. Maybe you can look up the answer together. Look around for ideas. Check the library, look for online science fair resources, take a walk outside and observe nature for ideas. Ask your child to observe and think of things he might want to learn more about. He may surprise you both with what he can come up with simply by observing and wondering.

Give your child adequate time to work on his project. Encourage your child to get started right away and continue working on his project early. Completing a science fair project long before the due date will ensure a well thought out and well presented project. Rushing to complete a project at the last minute can result in undue stress with sloppy presentation and incomplete results.

Feeding your baby can end up being very costly adding up to $100 a week or so. You can easily reduce your costs and improve your baby’s health by taking a few simple measures.

Rather than purchasing bottles, accessories, and formula for your baby try breastfeeding your baby. It is much healthier for your baby and much, much cheaper. If you are unable to breastfeed on a full-time basis you may consider breastfeeding part of the time and supplementing with formula part of the time. This will reduce the number of bottles and accessories you need as well as the amount of formula you will be using.

If you are breastfeeding your baby you do not need to rush into feeding your baby solid foods. Your baby is receiving all of the nutrition he needs from your breast milk. However, eventually your baby will begin eating solids. You can easily hold off on feeding your baby solid foods until he is approximately six months old. At that point avoid buying pre-packaged baby foods. They are expensive and are full of preservatives and sugars. Even those foods that claim to be “all natural” void of preservatives and sugars have been sitting around for a very long time. You have no clue how fresh your baby’s food is. To save money and provide a healthier diet for your baby, you can purchase a small food processor and process your own baby food from fresh fruits and vegetables. You may even find that your baby likes the flavor and texture of your homemade baby food better than the store-bought versions.

Rather than purchasing snack foods for your baby, save money and bake snacks of your own to feed your baby or provide cheap snacks such as Cheerios. Don’t get pulled in by fancy marketing. Many “baby snacks” are just colored cereal in a cute “baby friendly” container.

You understand all too well how important it is to make sure that your children have every edge and advantage in life to prepare them for the high-pressure, high-competition world that’s waiting on the other side of college. You know that a solid foundation in computers is not a luxury in today’s society but a rock-solid necessity.

Before you let your children run hog wild on your family computer though there are a few things you absolutely must do first. Not only do you need to sit down and have a nice long discussion about computer safety for children but you should also establish ground rules on downloading content and what is and isn’t acceptable for your family computer.

Knowing that kids will be kids, it is in your best interest to have a backup plan in place to protect your home PC from unintended content as well as unintended consequences of innocent downloads that go beyond typical cyber nanny software.

There are a few programs for your computer that are worthy investments to make before allowing any child (or adult in the household for that matter) log onto the World Wide Web.

1) Antivirus Software – You can find all kinds of antivirus software online. Some are free and some will cost a pretty penny. You should choose the option that you feel most comfortable with but many of the free options available are quite impressive at keeping computers virus free.

2) Registry Software – It’s difficult to imagine just how much of a difference a clean registry can make for computer performance until you see it in action. Programs like PC Tools Registry Software can save you a lot of time and money over the life of your computer.

Little things like this can make a big difference in the enjoyment and security your family experiences while online.

Your kids need you, both now and if something tragic were to happen to you. No matter what happens, you should give them the capability to grow up financially taken care of, and every smart parent knows that a goodly amount of life insurance is not optional when you have little ones who depend on you for everything that they need. You do, however, need to make sure that you are getting both the best life insurance for your individual needs, and a good deal on the life insurance you do buy. You need to carefully compare and contrast both your needs and the costs involved in making your selection. How you choose will potentially make a huge impact on the future of your family.

For one thing, there is both term and whole life insurance. Whole life has a tendency to pay its own premiums after a long enough time, and has a cash value in case you need to borrow from it at some point of dire need. While you do not necessarily need this option, it could become valuable to you if you ever fell on truly hard times, if, for instance, you became horribly sick. Of course, you also have to be sure that you do not get into the habit of borrowing against your life insurance for anything but the most serious of circumstances.

You should also be aware of how much your choice of insurance is going to cost you. Depending on your age and whether or not you smoke, you can get dramatically different prices on the same type of insurance coverage. Also, whole life is generally more expensive than term insurance. If you do not want the additional expense and temptation of whole life, you can entertain different options. You can check out online insurance quote after quote, and figure out which type of insurance will best suit the needs that you have.

Budgets aren’t just for growing businesses; family’s budgets are just as important as a local business. After all, your family, your children, your pets, and your spouse are all depending on that budget to work in their favor, for that bottom number to be positive. It may seem easy to stick to a budget, but when you start racking everything up you can be amazed at how much you are spending.

My family spent $1,700 in groceries last month alone. That’s nearly one paycheck for me. I couldn’t possibly imagine it would be that high. I assumed that we were buying unnecessary food or throwing out more than what we were eating. But after going through the bills I realized we needed all of that. I already clip coupons and go through the weekly flyers, but cut backs still needed to be made.

A friend told me about how she used financial software to budget her family’s expenses. I assumed that only businesses used that, but she told me that when you look at household expenses in general it really isn’t that different. We have payroll, I pay my kids a weekly allowance. We have heating, water, electric, cable, and internet. We have profit coming in, myself and my husband’s paycheck. I assumed the software would be hard to use, but with a few friendly online tutorials I was off and running.

I always used to laugh at my mom for driving across the street because chop meat was on sale for a nickel less, but now I understand that every penny adds up. I have been using the financial software for about six months now. We are now able to plan our family vacation to a five star resort to Hawaii in the summer.

Being a mom is hard enough work on its own. However, if you are juggling that with holding down a job that doesn’t pay you very much, it just makes life even harder and more stressful. You can better your situation for you and your family, and expand your career possibilities, by getting a college degree. Don’t think you are able to go to college? Well, it’s not as difficult as you might think, and now you can do it without even having to step foot in a classroom.

With the use of technology and the Internet, schools and universities all over the world are making the process a whole lot easier by offering online degree programs you can do from the convenience and comfort of your own home. Online schooling is a great option for mothers, and it allows a lot of flexibility to do the coursework on your schedule – when and where you want to.

When you are trying to choose which college or program is right for you, there are some important things you need to remember. Make sure to do your research thoroughly and find an accredited and respected college that offers the degree you desire. There are many legitimate choices out there, as well as some that are ready and willing to scam you. Don’t get yourself looped into something that is not from an accredited institution and get money taken from you without anything of value given back in return. So make sure to be careful and research your options. Many resources and websites exist to aid you in your search for accredited schools offering online degrees.

Start the process of finding an online degree program that is right for you today. It’s easy to search out schools and take the step towards bettering the future for you and your family.

When finding ways to cut costs while raising your children, you will sometimes need to get creative. Although babies are expensive, you can provide well for your baby and still have some money left over!

Your baby does not need name brand clothing or designer shoes. In fact, your infant’s feet will develop more correctly if you just plain leave her out of shoes. Infants go through clothing so fast that you may not even be able to put your baby into all the clothing you have purchased or she may only wear an outfit once or twice before she can no longer wear it. Do not spend a lot of money on clothing. Look for bargains, clearance items, or slightly used items. Most towns and cities have kid’s stores that provide gently used, quality children’s clothing, toys, furniture, and accessories. You may be able to find the adorable designer outfit you wanted for your baby at a fraction of the cost.

Diapers are a huge cost in providing for your baby’s needs. Again, name brand is not always best. You may want to experiment a little to find the brand you like the best or ask other mothers which ones they prefer and why. Another option is to use cloth diapers for your baby. Yes, it is more work, but you may be shocked by the amount of money you can save by using cloth diapers on your baby. It might be beneficial for you to do the math for yourself. Ultimately, cloth diapers are healthier for your baby as well and save in an overabundance of waste product. If you simply cannot handle the aspect of cleaning cloth diapers, you may wish to look into a diaper service. Compare the costs and the health benefits and determine if you are ahead by switching from disposable to cloth for your baby.

When you’re pregnant, it’s not just the shape of your body that will change. Pregnancy is often a physical and emotional roller coaster that you can have some trouble enjoying if you don’t know what to expect. Some people have an easier time with pregnancy than other people do, but even those who seem to just sail through it still need plenty of knowledge. It’s important that you know what’s normal and what isn’t, what’s safe to do while pregnant, and when you might want to see your doctor about any concerns that you have.

In order to get good pregnancy information, be sure to consider the source of that information. Don’t just blindly assume that everything you read is true. Double check, so you get only the best info for pregnant people. Educating yourself about what you will go through during your pregnancy can help you handle any concerns that you’ll face. You’ll notice all kinds of things taking place during your pregnancy, and you’ll want to know if those things are okay, or if you need to have them checked out. You don’t want to worry your family members, and it’s not necessary to call your doctor for every little thing.

By reading a lot of good information about your pregnancy, you’ll feel calmer and more confident. You won’t worry yourself or others unnecessarily, and you won’t get panicky over things that aren’t important. You’ll also have a much better idea of the kinds of things that you actually should be worried about, and you’ll know when you should actually call your doctor or go to the hospital. Most pregnancies are handled well, and don’t have serious problems, so keep that in mind as you notice and celebrate the changes in your body. Even morning sickness won’t last forever.

If you are a parent and have had to provide less for your kids than you know they deserve, it can be downright heartbreaking for you, even if they do not seem to have any serious problems with not having nice things. If you are almost to the level where you might have to choose between keeping your car and continuing to live in your current home, you do still have some options besides selling your internal organs (and hopefully you were not seriously considering that, in the first place). There are a lot of ways to save money, if you are willing to do some work for them. And the money that you save can be put into the really important things in life — not just stuff, but experiences.

For one thing, you can start couponing. Couponing is a practice by which very studious people collect all the coupons they can, and then start to monitor the sales cycle at their local stores. When an item comes up for sale, you can then use a coupon (which may even be doubled or tripled, as well) to make the item even cheaper. Master couponers may end up spending five hours in the grocery store, and walking out with a full cart of groceries for next to nothing (completely legally, and often to a round of applause from the other shoppers). This is especially fun if you like sticking it to “the man.”

But of course, before you go out to do all of that work in couponing, you should make sure that your bills at home are reasonable. For instance, if you have decent credit, you might consider home and auto refinance loans, which can lower your payments by getting you more preferential rates and/or terms on your car note and mortgage. When you work to negotiate your rates, you can change your payment significantly. Just make sure every penny counts.

Tax laws seem to always be changing. What parents could claim as a deduction one year isn’t applicable another year. Some things can be claimed on taxes for one year, others can be claimed on taxes from here on out. It really is very confusing and often overwhelming to many parents. Luckily, parents are able to turn to several resources to find information on the latest tax news and changing tax laws.

Staying on top of the latest tax news is essential for parents. It allows them to know what they can and cannot claim every year. You would feel extremely silly missing out on a new tax deduction that could have lowered your tax bill by hundreds of dollars. You would also feel extremely frustrated if claiming something on your taxes that was removed as a deduction led you to have to undergo a dreaded auditand have all your tax returns for the past seven years looked at.

There are many resources available that will give parents the tax information that they need so that they don’t make mistakes. Parents can turn to the Internet where there are hundreds of tax blogs that will keep them informed of the ever-changing tax laws. Parents can also use the IRS website for information as the IRS has everything a tax preparer needs to know. However, the site is very large and some of the information is highly technical in nature.

When all else fails and you are still frustrated you can always seek the help of a certified tax accountant or turn to the help of free tax preparation software programs that can direct you to what you can and cannot deduct. Both of these ways stay up to date on the latest information and can help you find any deductions you should be claiming and help you remove the ones that you shouldn’t.

I like to live my life the way I tell my kids to live: “do it right the first time when you can, and make your mistakes when they won’t hurt you much.” Now of course, we all wish that we were perfect – but good luck ever getting to that point. Even if you did, you’d probably go crazy on the way. But one thing you can do is to plan out your education, and then do as much practicing as you can before things get really serious. In the case of wanting to get an advanced degree, the whole thing becomes even more serious.

Getting an MBA is nothing to sneeze at. People with MBAs run the world in a lot of different ways. I’m not sure if I’d be smart enough for a program like that, which I suppose is why they developed the Graduate Management Admittance Test (also known affectionately as the GMAT). There wouldn’t be much sense in just letting anybody sign up for a rigorous curriculum like that, so they could crash and burn a few months in when things get really tough. The stress alone probably burns out a lot of people. So it’s good that they let you prepare for things like the GMAT, to know if you could do well in it.

GMAT class online is a little blessing. When my kids are old enough that college and grad school are buzzing in our ears (which probably won’t be far off at all), I will definitely encourage them to shoot for their dreams in every way they can. If they want to be a CEO one day, why not give it all they’ve got? The worst that could happen is that they may not have the natural talent for something that big. They could still be successful at this blogging thing, just like their mom is!

Providing for your baby’s needs can get expensive. However, there are many things you can do to reduce costs while still providing well for your child. You need to sit down and do the math. Look at the things that will cost you the most while your child is an infant and find some ways to cut costs.

Daycare costs can be one of the major expenses you have with young children. Sit down and actually write down the numbers on paper. What is the income of both parents? When mom returns to work will she be working full-time or part-time? Now compute the cost of daycare. On an average full-time daycare costs approximately $800 to $1200 a month for one child. If you have more than one child those costs increase drastically.

You may need to determine if it is worth the cost for both parents to be working. In fact, when you figure in daycare cost, travel expenses, and work expenses (such as meals and special clothing requirements, etc.) you may discover that you will actually be paying out more for both parents to be working than you are bringing in. In essence, you are paying others for the “privilege” of working. It may be beneficial for one parent to stay home with the child until the child reaches school age or find a way to work the parent’s schedules in a way that minimal daycare is needed.

Another way to minimize daycare costs is to utilize family or friends to provide some or all of your daycare needs. Family members or friends may provide care for free or at a reduced price. You may be able to exchange other services for daycare. For example, if you are a hairdresser you may be able to provide free hair care for your daycare provider and family in exchange for free daycare.

Family time is becoming more precious as more demands on our lives try to cut into it. This is why it is so important to take steps to ensure that your family time is uninterrupted when you do get it. One way to do this is to take advantage of vacation time, and family cruises make this easier.

Because you are on a cruise ship for at least part of the time, it’s going to be easy to schedule time for everyone to enjoy their favorite activities separately then come back together to share their adventures. And because cruise ships, especially those that cater to families, offer so many supervised activities for children and teenagers, parents do not have to worry about their children getting into trouble.

So on any given day aboard the ship, after a family breakfast together, mom and dad may enjoy hours in the casino or working out at the fitness center while the kids join others their age for some carefully chaperoned fun time. Later, everyone can meet for lunch and a rest, and then go to one of the pools. The whole family can take turns on the water slides or Mom and Dad can just relax and watch the kiddies as they splash down into the water.

Families with teenagers may be able to allow them a little more freedom on family cruise holidays instead of insisting that they join organized activities. A little research and information gathering beforehand will let mom and dad know the places where teenagers can safely go, and those that have age restrictions. (These are usually carefully watched, so sneaking in won’t be an option.) The most important thing is that at least for a few hours each day, the whole family will come together. It is at these times that family bonds can be strengthened, and family cruise holidays can be credited for helping with that.

There are a few times through the year that, as a parent, you need to find the perfect present for your children. Kids always know exactly what that perfect present is, too. Unfortunately, you may find that that great new gadget or toy that your child wants is a little beyond your means. In fact, this happens more often than not. Some parents even find that it happens almost every time it comes around to get a new present. There are some things that you can do to keep this concern at bay.

First, make sure that you are saving money through the year. Most likely, the current trend for the perfect present is not going to be cheap. Keeping up with your savings, and knowing that you plan to spend some money on your child is important.

Sometimes, this is not possible. Things happen, and you may find that your child’s birthday is creeping up, and you haven’t been able to save nearly enough this year. If this is the case, there are some options. First, you could get a loan from a friend or family member. This is not ideal for many people, as they do not like to borrow from friends and family. Another option is to use a credit card. Unfortunately, many people do not have credit available to them. If this is the case for you, you may want to consider looking into a payday loan from a company like Payday One. You will be able to get the cash that you need for that perfect gift for your child, and pay it back with your next paycheck.

Making sure that you get your child a present that they will appreciate is important to many parents. Unfortunately, the funding isn’t always as readily available as you would like. Check out your options before giving up on that perfect present.

If you have a family to worry about, then finances and budgeting are probably serious considerations that are on your mind all the time. It is important for you to be aware of good budgeting practices so that you can get past the paycheck to paycheck life and start putting money away for a rainy day, a financial emergency or that family vacation you have been talking about for years.

Here are some tips for things to consider when it comes to budgeting for your family:

- It is important that your family has a savings account. Your savings account can be used for everything from family vacations to emergency expenses like medical bills, car repairs and similar charges that come up when you least expect them.

- Have a backup plan in case your savings account will not cover something. GreatPlainsLending payday loans, for example, allow you to bail yourself out of a financial emergency quickly and easily when you are between paychecks and in a bind.

- Track all incomes and expenses for your family, keeping close track of where the money goes. Cut unnecessary expenses and put the extra money that you save in your savings account so that you can apply it to more important charges and financial issues as they arise.

- Make sure that you are revisiting your budget every month or every quarter to make sure that it is working for you. The more often that you revisit your budget, the more able you will be to alter it to suit your family’s needs over time. Small changes over time can have a big impact on the effectiveness of your budget.

A family budget can have a profoundly positive impact on your ability to take charge of your family finances. Your working budget will help you stay on top of incomes and expenses so you can enjoy the finer things in life.

Family holiday deals on cruises might be just what you and your family need to unwind during Christmas. If you have kids, going on a cruise during the holidays is a fun way for your entire family to relax. Cruises are a stress-free way to vacation because much of the planning is already done for you.

Lots of Fun and Very Little Planning

If you’re overwhelmed by the thought of planning a vacation during Christmas, just know that a cruise might very well be the simplest solution to your holiday vacation needs. With a typical vacation, you’d have to deal with booking flights well in advance and reserving a hotel room and a rental car. With cruising, however, you can sit back and relax. Simply choose the cruise line of your choice and you instantly have lodging, meals and transportation all taken care of for you.

Going on a cruise during Christmas is a perfect getaway. You and your family can take advantage of the various recreational activities on the cruise ship. One parent can relax and sunbathe while another mingles with other parents and their kids. Children can go swimming or play games with other kids. Regularly scheduled meals and evening entertainment make your Christmas vacation relaxing and enjoyable. Shore excursions add to the fun and excitement.

Finding Family Holiday Deals on Christmas Cruises

To get started on finding a family holiday package, determine which destinations appeal to you. You might choose Barbados, Puerto Rico, Alaska or some other location that sounds inviting. Think through how many days you and your family can be away and determine your budget for the trip. Check for deals online or speak to a travel agent to help you narrow down your choices. Be sure to ask for special holiday packages, family deals, and discounts for children under a certain age.

Many people put off having children because they feel they cannot “afford” to have a child. Although having children can be expensive, there are ways to raise a child without “breaking the bank!”

Before your child is born you need to plan a budget based on your finances. You may need to do an inventory of how you spend your money and ways that you can reduce costs and spending. This may mean that you need to make some lifestyle changes, although it is well worth it in the end. Determine your “needs” and your “wants.” Which “wants” or “nice-to-haves” can you do without or wait on? Which “needs” are you able to tweak to a lower cost? For example if utility bills are quite high, are there things you can do to reduce energy use and lower overall costs?

Many people feel that they “must” provide “everything” for their baby. They do not want their baby to want for anything. However, this is unreasonable and is really no benefit for the child. Being a good parent is more about the time you give your child than the things you give your child. When new parents are so busy buying all the “nice-to-have” items for their baby, soon they have spent so much money on toys, gadgets, and accessories that are not even used that there is little left in the budget for the necessities such as daycare, diapers, or food.

If there are certain items you feel you just simply cannot get by without, instead of spending large amount of money for items you may only use for a short time, try finding them used. Many baby items are used for short periods of time and end up with very little wear on them. You may be able to find an item that is almost new or possibly even was purchased by a previous owner and never used for half the price of new or less.

Everyone has heard the term bankruptcy and most people even know someone who has been affected by it. Perhaps someone has recommended that you look into it for your own personal situation. Regardless of what you know, or think you know, when it comes to bankruptcy it is critically important to understand all aspects related to declaring bankruptcy to make sure that it is the right decision for you. Even if your situation seems impossible – don’t assume that bankruptcy is the right solution for you.

First, understand that bankruptcy laws can vary somewhat from state to state so make sure that you are familiar with the implications for where you live. Also, you may want to contact a bankruptcy lawyer to discuss your options and to understand more about the process. Some bankruptcy lawyers may be honest with you about whether or not bankruptcy is the right solution. However, keep in mind, bankruptcy lawyers only get paid if you hire her or him, so gather the information relevant to your particular situation, but also seek out other resources and opportunities at the same time in order to make the best decision possible. Just like you don’t buy the first car you see, don’t assume the first solution presented is the only one, or the best one, available.

For example, credit counseling is another solution that might work for you, depending upon your needs. Here, again, you will want to evaluate the different services available and make sure you are working with a reputable organization that will help to improve your situation. Additionally there are many online resources to help educate you regarding bankruptcy and bankruptcy alternatives. Likewise, there are many local social organizations that provide financial counseling and may have links to local resources that can help you make a well informed and best decision possible for you and your family.

One thing we all know about winter is that it can brutal, inside and out. It can be hard on the skin, the lungs, and can make going outside an uncomfortable experience. The problem is, kids don’t always know this, which is why parents need to be conscientious about their children’s cold weather needs.

In the recreational-adventure world there is a phrase that says “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad equipment.” This is very true. Just because the weather is disagreeable doesn’t mean you have to stay hunkered down inside waiting for the spring. With the right gear, winter can be just as fun and enjoyable as the other nine months of the year.

With temperatures swaying back and forth along the thermometer in strange and unpredictable ways over the past number of years, having good gear is essential for keeping your child protected in the winter. A t-shirt and a light coat are good for fall weather, but in the winter, layers become essential.

When buying a coat for your child, buy a large size (but not too large) so you can fit a layer or two under that. The overcoat—the outer layer is the most important. Get one that keeps out wind and allows room for mobility. Clothing manufacturers, such as Rocawear, provide these kinds of coats at prices that are often affordable.

Scarves are also a good addition to any winter wardrobe. If a coat seems ineffective, it may not be because of the coat itself but rather the wind finding a way to sneak beneath it. A scarf keeps wind out of the neck; gloves with elastic bands keep wind out of the sleeves, and a “belt’” or elastic waist on a coat keeps cold from getting in through the bottom.

With the right gear, your child will stay warm while generating and conserving his or her own heat. After all, sledding is an aerobic exercise!

It can be difficult as a mother to watch your child struggle with their homework. You may feel like you want to do it for them just so they don’t have to worry about it, or you may become frustrated because the teacher is handing out homework far above your child’s level. It’s okay to help your child with homework, but you have to remember a few simple things.

Don’t do their homework for them. This simply means that you should not tell them the answers straightforward. Rather, try to help them remember things by asking them questions until they get to the right answer. If you tell them what the answer is without them figuring it out themselves, they’ll never remember it and they won’t learn it for themselves.

Help them with their work even when they don’t have homework. For example, if your child is having problems with math such as adding, you may want to buy or make flashcards where you can sit down and help them.

You can use flashcards to play a game with them, and they will be more likely to be willing to learn it. For example, you may say that every one they get right they get a point, and when they get it wrong, you get a point. Then put the ones they get wrong to the back of the pile where they can try again a second time around. Make sure to let them know the correct answer when they get it wrong so they remember it.

Even if your child understands what they’re doing, you may want to observe them while they do their homework so you know that they’re doing it. If they understand it, they may not feel like they should do it. You may want to even check it afterward to make sure they do understand it, and if they don’t, take them one on one and try to teach it, because a teacher has a hard time teaching one on one when they have 20 students in their class.

Many families have discussions about getting a pet; owning one is a fun thing that can unite a family in a common bond with an animal. In many households worldwide, the family pet is treated like a member of the family, receiving presents on holidays and treated with a similar respect. However, when determining what kind of pet to get, there might be a divide within the house whether to get a cat or a dog.

It’s tough to make the call between these two wonderful animals. Dogs and cats are both loving, loyal, and both look cute in pet costumes. However, in order to determine which pet might be right for a particular family, it should be noted that the living situation of a family always comes into play.

Living in a house provides more options. Especially if a family is interested in getting a big dog, the room that a house has (vs. an apartment or a condo) is more conducive to a larger pet. If there is a backyard there is even more incentive to get a dog. Keep in mind that the smaller a living space is, the less plausible it is to get a dog.

In many cases a cat makes a lot of sense for two reasons. The first is that they don’t require the kind of space thata dog does. They can live in a studio apartment the same way they can live in a three story home. The other reason is that a cat can be self sufficient when the owners aren’t around. A cat does not need to be taken care of while the house is empty. They can feed themselves and use the bathroom by themselves. If the owners travel a lot, it makes sense to get a cat, unless of course the owners have allergies. The decision between the two animals isn’t an easy one, but it’s made easier by the living environment.

As a work at home parent, you may neglect your customers. In order to avoid ignoring your customers, you’ll need to have the right tools on your website to get customer feedback. Your customers are just as important as your family. Without your customer, you wouldn’t have an Internet business.

One tool that you can place on your website to receive customer feedback is online surveys. It allows you to post two survey questions onto your website. The survey questions will allow customers to provide feedback on what they think of the service that they have been receiving.

When your customers provide feedback, whether it is negative or positive, no one but you will be able to see the comments that are made. You are in control of who you want to see the comments. For instance, you can allow only certain customers to see the customer feedback. Once you receive the comments, you’ll need to decide what you need to do to make the right changes.

Another way to make sure that your customers are not left out in the cold is to send them emails asking for their feedback. You may want to send these out to your loyal customers. They will be more honest with you. When your customers provide comments, you can offer them discounts. For example, you can let them know if they complete the customer satisfaction survey in the next 48 hours, they will receive free shipping on their next order.

A lot of people don’t like it when businesses call their home, but you may want to talk to your customers on the phone to see how they are enjoying the services that they are receiving from you. Some customers prefer to hear a real person than deal with email all of the time.

The balancing act of being a working mom and finding a way to manage both home and work effectively can be overwhelming at times, although there are ways to manage without becoming overwhelmed. The most important thing is to organize yourself, your home, your work, and your time. By getting everything organized things will become much less stressful, which in turn helps things to run more smoothly.

Take care of your own physical and mental wellbeing before trying to manage everyone and everything else. If you feel good you are more likely to be able to get everything accomplished. Eat a healthy diet. Drink plenty of water. Exercise. Get plenty of sleep. Find quiet time for yourself. The most important thing is that whatever methods you use, ensure that you are taking care of your own personal needs to ensure your best overall mental and physical health.

Manage your home. Removing the clutter from your home will give you a sense of freedom both physically and mentally. Find a good book on organizing your home. Maybe you need additional storage space to properly de-clutter your home. There are several books written on the subject of creative storage space ideas. Get rid of things you don’t need or use. Keep a calendar on your wall to record everyone’s activities. Spend some quality time with your family each day, even if it is just around the dinner table.

Get organized at work. Make better use of your time. Learn to say “no.” An organized person knows what their job responsibilities are and learn to work within the parameters of their job by not accepting work beyond their job expectations and responsibilities. If you work from home let your family know that a closed door means you are not available and you are at work. Plan ahead possibly by making a “to-do” list for each day’s tasks. Separate your work from your home life. Cut back on multitasking. Spending more time on focused tasks will increase your overall productivity.

Being a good parent involves an almost overwhelming number of aspects, and few are more important than being an activity coordinator. At no time is this essential function more important to handle than during the winter months. Kids, as well as adults, tend naturally to get outside of the house a bit less when it’s cold outside, which can lead to numerous complications. Vitamin D deficiency, as well as seasonal affective disorder, tend to strike even the most vigilant of people if they don’t manage to land enough quality time getting out of the house.

And with the huge variety of things available to do across the nation, Canada 411 provides a wealth of information to help fill out your idea palate. Whether it’s partaking of the national sport of lacrosse or the more well internationally recognized hockey, or heading out to do some curling, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or even to try out dog sledding, detailed descriptions are available to help you learn more. Times, locations, and direct links to the providers of the activities you wish to attend are all at your fingertips with the powerful database inside of Canada 411. Contact information is provided, so you can inquire ahead if the pottery classes require the kids to bring their own clay or not, of if there is an age limit.

By getting in touch with a broad variety of activities outside the home, it’s not too difficult to fight off the winter “blah’s” that tend to settle in once the holidays leave town. So no matter what time you’ve got free, whether that’s strictly weekends, or if you’ve got a few mornings free per week, there’s an activity for you to participate in with the kids. And they will appreciate it in ways you’ve yet to envision, as they’ll learn at a young age to be active enough during the winter that seasonal affective disorder need never impact their lives.

Moms that work outside the home or have an at-home job are faced with feelings of guilt. Some of the issues that working moms deal with includes a feeling that they are not accomplishing everything they need to accomplish in their homes or for their children. When work causes a mother to miss a child’s activity or school function it causes even more guilt.

Generally when you are feeling guilt over things it may be an indicator that something needs to change. Sit down and really think about what you are feeling guilty about. Are the feelings you are having a result of needing to prioritize and organize your life better? Are there things that can be changed to allow you to balance your work and home life better? What are your reasons for working rather than being home and being more available for your family?

First and foremost you need to determine if you enjoy your job enough to sacrifice the time away from your home and your family. Are your children adequately cared for while you are gone? Do you need to be working for financial reasons.

Answering these questions honestly can help you determine why you are feeling guilty. Determining what can be changed and what cannot be changed and finding ways to deal with those things can reduce or eliminate any stress and guilt you are feeling about your situation. If you find that you are in a work situation that does not allow any flexibility or ability to balance your home life and your work life it may be time to look for something new. Working to provide for your family is important, but being there for your family is also important.

Write down your motivations and your reasons for doing what you are doing. Now that you have reassured yourself for your reasons that you are working and that you have made the changes you can and are managing the things you cannot change, it is time to let the guilt go.

If balancing work and family life is a struggle for you or if you just want to learn some good strategies on how moms who work and take care of families can create more balance, them these tips can help.

Communicate Expectations
In your home life letting your partner and children know what things you expect from them can ensure that everyone does their part. At work if you are in a management position setting clear expectations for your staff can help reduce confusion and goals not being met. If you are in a support position keep the lines of communication open with your superior concerning times you are unable to work and use wisdom when accepting extra assignments.

Don’t Forget About You
Many working moms have no problem giving out but often feel guilty when it’s time to give back to themselves. A better you means a better mom and a better employee or boss. Ministering to your own needs whether it’s going to get your hair done or getting a good workout at the gym, will give you a much needed break, rejuvenation and perhaps even empowerment.

• Ask for Help
Have you ever heard the term no man is an island? In case you haven’t, it means that no man or woman can get through life alone. Asking for help is not a sign of failure or weakness but is actually a sign of courage and humility. Don’t let pride, the media, friends or family put unrealistic expectations on you to be supermom. Just because another mom may seem like they can do it all and still maintain balance and composure doesn’t mean you have to do what they do and appear to be perfect.

For moms who have to both work and take care of their families at home, balancing your own internal emotions and needs can be the secret ingredient to balancing work and family life.

For busy housewives and working moms, tools that can help with budgeting and keeping finances organized is a welcomed asset. Some great tools that can do the job are:

1. Budgeting Spreadsheet or Software
Free budgeting tools from services like Google Docs and Mint.com can be utilized to keep on track with budgeting. Google provides free email accounts which gives you access to the Documents section to download free budgeting spreadsheets. Mint.com is free to sign-up and use and lets you input your income, account balances and expenses, and will send you reminders when funds are running low. Using a budgeting spreadsheet or software is a great way to track and itemize your spending.

2. Automatic Payments
Signing up for automatic payments is a great way to ensure that bills are paid on time and payments are not missed; so that late fees and disruption of service will not occur. For busy housewives and working moms this can be an asset and will be one less thing to think about.

3. Online Banking Bill Pay
Most banks have free online bill pay that allows you to schedule payments and receive reminders for when bills are due. Online bill pay is useful to pay bills on time, avoid postage fees, and have a record of all payment transactions; which can help housewives and working moms stay organized with finances.

4. Banking Alerts
With online banking you can sign-up for email and text message alerts that can warn you when account balances becomes low, when an overdraft may occur, as well as any fraudulent activities on your account.

5. Automatic Transfers
Another great money budgeting tool from online banking is the ability to schedule a date or times when funds are automatically transferred to a savings account. Having automatic transfers to a savings account is an excellent way to avoid over spending and making sure that you have money set aside for emergencies.

For working moms, time management is essential to making sure your needs and those of your family are being met. Here are the top 5 ways that can help you save time.

1. Write Down Activities
Start by writing down each activity you do daily, including the times and how long. Next, number your activities by priority and eliminate any unnecessary activities. It may be further helpful to create a daily activity chart and place it in a location that you will see often.

2. Delegate Chores
If you have members of your household that can perform basic chores, start delegating who does what on which particular day or week. Creating a chore chart with names, days of the week and times and placing it in a common area for all to see, will provide more consistency and help you save time by not trying to do everything yourself.

3. Learn How to Say No
The biggest barrier to time management is taking on more than you can handle. If saving time is a struggle for you then taking on more activities will only add more burden. Once you are able to successfully manage your current activities then you can think about taking on more.

4. Pre-Prepare Meals
If providing home-cooked meals for your family is important to you, then a way to save time is to take one day to chop and season all your meats or pre-prepare items to store in your refrigerator. Doing this can eliminate thinking about what to make for dinner and extra trips to the grocery store.

5. Map Your Route
For working moms, a lot of time is spent driving for work, appointments or activities. To maximize your driving and save time have a strategy to map your route. For example, if the highways are busy in the evenings take local roads, and if necessary local roads that have supermarkets in case you need to pick up items for dinner.

At times our American culture can present an image that you should have it all right now. You can still have the American dream of being successful but it doesn’t mean you have to accumulate everything all at once. For moms and housewives who want to make sure that the needs of their families are being met, learning how to take control of budgeting can determine your financial success. Here are some tips to help you budget successfully.

1. Avoiding Frivolous or Emotional Spending
Frivolous spending is characterized by senseless or thoughtless use of money; which can include emotional spending. If you buy things to provide comfort from negative emotions you may be or already dealing with piling debt. To help you realize the magnitude of this habit, start writing down the times when you spend money unnecessarily and what triggered those emotions to help you identify the problem and start a resolution.

2. Realizing Money on Credit Belongs to the Bank
If you have credit cards or a shopping spending limit it’s essential to realize that this money belongs to the bank and not to you. There are times when emergencies or needs may require you to use money on credit, but a general rule is if you can’t pay off the balance within 30 days then don’t buy it.

3. Don’t Keep-up with the Jones’s-They aren’t Paying your Bills
Moms and housewives may feel some pressure to keep-up with their neighbors and friends who seem to have it all. Remember that SEEM is the keyword because you never know what actually takes place in someone else’s home. Whether or not those friends or neighbors actually have the money to backup their material possessions is not your concern. Your concern is having a healthy financial budget that can provide for you and your family to give you peace and security and not frustrations and conflicts.

You can help your child overcome the challenges of completing homework assignments and diminish your worry of how to provide the help needed by doing these simple tips.

1. Set Dedicated Homework Times
Children need consistency to help them with maintaining responsibility and performance. If you leave it up to your children to do their homework when they feel like it you may be doing your child a disservice. It may require you to be more strict by making sure that the priority of completing homework assignments are done before there is free time to watch TV or play video games.

2. Get a Tutor if Necessary
Many times helping children with homework assignments can be challenging because parents have forgotten the subject matter of the assignments. If you simply are unable to help your child with their homework, hire a tutor if you can afford it or seek out free after school programs, get help from an older student or a friend.

3. Stay in Contact with Teachers
It is important for moms to be proactive by staying in contact with teachers to ensure the success of their child’s education. It is very possible that your child may not be telling you everything about their assignments or their school progress. Keeping the lines of communication open with teachers and not just waiting for a teacher to contact you when their is a problem can help your child with their studies.

4. Use Games to Make Homework Fun
Creativity and fun can go a long way in helping your child to learn and do their homework assignments. For example, if working on math you can use something your child likes or will remember to help with adding or subtracting like their favorite candy or toys. Additionally you can visit learning websites like leapfrog.com that provides great ideas and fun learning games for preschool to second grade students.

Holidays are a time of joyous wonder for children, and often a time of limitless stress for the parents who strive to provide the best possible holiday for their family. Dollars get stretched like nothing before, and the whiplash effect comes about in January when credit card bills are due and the groceries are running out. The following are a few tips to help you stretch your household dollar after the holiday season:

1. Many utility and credit card companies will allow customers in good standing to put off a payment until the next month. This once a year gift can come in handy when funds are limited. Just call well ahead of the bill’s due date to see if this can be arranged. Using a service like paydayone.com can help you get an advance on your next paycheck if due bills are imminent.

2. Buying in bulk is always a good idea, but no more so than after the holidays. After being spoiled by good food and treats galore, it’s time to get back to the more economical cuts of meat like buying ground beef in 10 pound increments when it goes on sale. Stretch meats by making casseroles and use frozen vegetables instead of fresh. Frozen fruit is a great replacement for fresh, and in a smoothie no one can tell the difference.

3. Returning broken or ill-fitting items is paramount. Many retailers have restrictions on returns. Don’t risk losing out the money you paid for a broken toy or a sweater three times too large because you couldn’t get it returned on time. In addition, don’t be so hasty to throw away toy packaging, as many returns can only be made with the original packaging.

These few tips can help any struggling family recover their financial footing after the holidays. Just be smart about your purchases and put off any non-essentials for another month.

Stress is a prominent factor in the onset of medical conditions like chronic migraines and heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is currently the leading cause of death in women. Managing stress is especially important for working moms and busy housewives who have to juggle so many things simultaneously. If stress is a dominant factor in your life, doing these stress relievers may help you live better and be healthier.

1. Exercise
You may be thinking how can exercise reduce your stress and you don’t have the time to exercise. It may be difficult at first, but just 30 minutes a day of aerobic exercise can increase your heart rate so your body can produce serotonin. Serotonin is a natural chemical in your brain that is vital for balancing your mood, reducing anxiety and helping with insomnia. If emotional imbalance, lack of sleep and anxiety are common in your life, then more consistent exercise may be just what you need.

2. Aromatherapy Bath
Taking a hot bath with aromatherapy treatment like peppermint and lavender oil can sooth tired and sore muscles and provide increased relaxation. Peppermint oil is known to help with muscle tension and headaches and lavender oil provides a soothing aroma to your senses. Taking at least 30 minutes to pamper yourself with a soothing aromatherapy bath can give you the revitalization you need to meet the hectic demands of work and motherhood.

3. Listening to Music Frequencies
If you have ever watched The Sound of Music, then you remember the song that goes something like, doh a deer a female deer, re a drop of golden sun and so on. What they were singing is called the solfeggio. Solfeggios are musical frequencies or notes that can be used for meditation and relaxation. You can go on Amazon and do a search for solfeggio and you will find many CDs available.

With each and every passing generation, the stay-at-home mom just about doesn’t exist like it did back in the 50′s and 60′s. The slumping economy the last 3 years doesn’t help the modern family as far as having quality family time let alone enough money to pay the bills, buy gas that’s over $3.00 a gallon, provide food and lunches for everyone for the week or the month and those little things that pop up like Molly’s school field trip or Jacob’s karate classes. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 24% of women that are employed are actually part-time. About 60% of them prefer to work part-time and prefer it due to their busy home and family schedules.

The ideal situation for a part-time job would be something from home or while the kids are in school. Hours are determined by you, something in the 15-30 hour range could be beneficial. The drawbacks women have are of course, making less money, losing any or all benefits you used to have and if you had a start-up career somewhere, that may have to go on the back burner.

A few ideas to look into that could benefit both the wallet and the family time could be anything from starting a referral service in your local community (sort of an Angie’s List), part-time teaching or a professor at a local school or university helps garner something bigger down the road depending on what type of degree you already have. Maybe you have a food or gift idea that no one has stumbled on and can create or make it from home and take the steps needed to get it advertised, produced and distributed in small batches. One of the other hot jobs is being a virtual assistant, someone who takes care of clients’ websites, write press releases and be a virtual secretary. The possibilities can be endless, challenging, and most of all, rewarding.

The good mom. The one who picks up after the kids, fixes their beds after telling them to fix their beds before school, the grocery shopper, the cook, the errand runner and the sympathizer. One who will go beyond the call of duty to make her husband and kids happy and content. There’s just one problem. All the nice things you do are starting to take a toll on the wallet and the home budget.

On these treks you take to the grocery store or to run an errand, do you catch yourself dropping a 5-spot on some Starbucks, maybe a few gossip papers while standing in line at the store or just buying something you really don’t need because it’s 70% off? If you can improvise or “trade in” something of lesser value or just remotely take that little money you would have spent and put it in a piggy bank or coffee can, you’d be amazed what you can accumulate in about 5 or 6 weeks.

Some other notable methods of saving some dough depends on things you depend on everyday, like transportation for example. If there is a bus or train close to you and you realize your errand or grocery list is very short, you can save quite a bit. By the time you warm up your car in the winter, drive off to town, hit a few red lights, find a parking space, you could probably of paid enough train or bus fair for 3 days.

The biggest contributor to a dented wallet is entertaining the family. Small steps like renting dvd’s, streaming movies or watching shows on the internet can eliminate some of your cable or satellite bill (if you stick to basic services). Libraries also provide movies and other things you can check out. Doing more things outside at a park and having a game night with some invited friends will also help aid in the savings.

One of the hardest things to give up your busy day for is a child’s homework. Between meals, your job, cleaning and finding time to relax, there’s just not enough hours in the day it seems. Understanding homework and getting involved with your child’s homework is key to their interest and helping you retool what you may have learned decades ago.

The reasons for homework are simple. The main goal for teachers is to see if the student has picked up on what they have been teaching on the subject. Other reasons include to get students familiar with other resources other than the internet, like a dictionary, encyclopedia or a public library. The obvious other reason is there’s just not enough time in the class to go over everything so teachers will expand on a subject by means of homework.

Finding a perfect scheduled time for you and your child to do homework is often helpful. Usually between 4pm and 5pm would be good. Factoring in dinner and any items the child may need help with would be the priority. If the child has work they can do independently, they can do that at a later time and the parent can go over it with them before bed. If your child is older, most of their homework will probably be done independently but you still want to get them on a schedule so you have time to go over their work and make sure they aren’t doing other things other than homework during this scheduled time. This will help develop a bond between you and your child and show them how important homework is and how much you care and want to help them do well.

Your interest in school activities like shows, PTA meetings and sporting events helps bond with your child and even volunteering for classroom help or a bake sale or any event the school needs help in is very supportive.

As a parent, as your child gets older, the homework, events, sports and school activities on a daily basis can be overwhelming for you and your child. Despite the work day you have or how busy your day can get, you have to show a great deal of patience and provide a schedule of flexibility to your child’s needs and activities.

First and foremost, homework is always the priority. You have to establish an understanding with your child that homework comes first no matter if it’s to be done at night after all activities are finished. Get involved with what your child is interested in as far as activities go since you may need to step in if your child tries to take too much on and is having a hard time getting their homework in on time or too tired to do it. Breaking it up in one hour increments after school is helpful as well which won’t lead the child to “burn out”.

If you feel more comfortable of putting your child in a designated homework area, it wouldn’t hurt since this will take away from a lot of distractions like cell phone calls, texting, watching television or listening to music. The quicker and more efficient your child does their homework, they will learn that they will have plenty of time for the fun things they enjoy.

Making time with your child with homework, taking them to the library if needed or reading along with an assignment they are doing will mean a lot to them because they know you could be doing other things. Bringing up school at dinner is wise also so you have an idea your child is learning well or may have questions to ask if they don’t understand something. The idea is to make it as fun as possible but also as painless as possible since, let’s face it, the majority of us never did like homework!

The holidays are nearing. You just did two PTA meetings, 5 track events, 45 hours of work, 15 hours of homework and 6 hours total of errands and groceries in the last two weeks. Your frustration level is about through the roof and you need to reevaluate where the time goes. You feel you haven’t spent enough time around your spouse and start feeling guilty. What should I do?

Before you fall off the deep edge, take a deep breath and go through what your typical day consists of. If you are a full-time working mom, this may be the most stressful as it’s total chaos once you get home from work. Preparing the meal or getting ready to take one or more kids to after school events could be problematic as well. If your husband happens to be home before you, with any luck, a compromise can be made to give you a little “me” time before everyone comes back. Relax with a book, watch a little TV or even take a well-deserved nap. Finding something to break up the routine is always refreshing.

Now if you’re a part-time mom, you can simplify things a little easier by the way your work days go and what days you have off (if any). If you have a short shift in the mornings and still have a good two or three hours when you come home, forget about what laundry, meals and errands need to be done. If this is the only real downtime you have, you really need to take advantage of it. If you need a nap, this would be the perfect time as it will rejuvenate and energize you for the hours ahead and more than likely, put you in a better mood. Calling a friend that you haven’t seen in awhile, texting or messaging your friends or even a long bubble bath will perk up your mood. Keep it simple and satisfying.

It is always a good idea to teach children from a very early age to manage and handle money correctly. It is most disturbing to see young adults getting dozens of offers in the mail for that magic credit card which is not going to help them get ahead when it comes to money management.

It is far wiser to give a child a debit credit card and teach them the multitude of ways that they can save money. Money saved is money that can be spent on better things of your own choosing. Explain to your child how credit cards work, that they are very expensive forms of borrowing money. Money which needs to be paid back with interest. Try to show your child the many ways that they can save in other ways.

It can become a game and a challenge to try to find as many ways to save money as possible. Forget that magic credit card, look at clipping coupons instead. The trick here is to search for coupon codes or specials only on items that you actually need or want. A sage once told me that “everything is expensive if you don’t really need it.”

So how do you find coupon codes for the items that you actually need? One way is to scan the newspapers and store fliers. Another way is scout the shopping isles for coupons. Do not purchase the items now, many have an expiry date on them. Collect them and swop them with friends so that you get coupons you need and want. The best way is to subscribe to an internet site and get coupon codes emailed to you. Then you can scour the email suggestions and take the codes you need.

How much can you save this week?

With the state of the economy many women are looking for affordable ways to cut costs and reduce the household budget. Of course the basics must be purchased, but after this many families have no space in the budget for extras such as new clothes or accessories. Instead consider doing a clothes swap with your friends.

Getting Started

A clothes swap is a great way to get “new to you” clothes and other accessories. The reason why a clothes swap is such a good idea, is that it gives you and your friends a reason to get together. You can choose a day that is acceptable to everyone and host it at a convenient location. If it is going to be held a your home, lighten the financial burden of catering by asking people to bring snacks or desserts. All you will need to do is supply the tea and coffee.

The great thing about a clothes and accessories swap is that someone on a budget can exchange the items they no longer want or need for a blouse of handbag that is needed for their wardrobe. You might not have any room in your budget for new clothes, but getting clothes from your friends and extended family during the swap is a great way to add to the number of outfits you have.

Consider Other Groups

However do not limit a clothes swap to just friends and extended family. Think of the other groups you belong to. A clothes swap can be completed between you and your coworkers or between people from your church or gym class. Getting a handbag that is free while giving away something you don’t want is a great reason to get together. Even if someone chooses a blouse you wanted, you can still enjoy the time with friends and family while eating dessert and these are even better reasons to get together.

With the costs of children’s toys and games, many parents especially mothers can feel heartbroken that they cannot afford the best to give her son or daughter. Some children living in homes with at least one parent out of work might not be able to receive any gifts on birthdays or for Christmas. Instead a very frugal idea that has become popular is a toy and games exchange. A frugal mother can ask friends with children to go into an exchange with her.

What is an Exchange?

An exchange happens when the parents of one child who has clothes, books, toys, or games that the child no longer needs, decides to exchange these items for something else that you might have. As long as the items are still of good quality then there are plenty of reasons to do an exchange. An exchange is not about giving away a child’s favorite toy, but rather a mother can do an exchange with another mother to receive an item that she can give to her son or daughter as a present.

Why An Exchange

Some children are unable to understand why they might not receive presents like the other children. If the child is old enough, they can be thought to understand that it is not always about receiving the latest or newest product on the market. Younger children can just be happy to have something to unwrap. Therefore, not only is this a great way to give yourself a gift, it is also a great way to save the money that you would have spent buying the toy that was only played with for a short amount of time.

In some cities, exchanges are on a large scale with websites created to show items that parents would like to exchange or looking for. This is a wonderful way to exchange things for some really cool gifts such as computer games.

One of the best ideas for budgeting your money is bulk shopping. Bulk shopping is a great way to buy a large quantity of something when it is at a much cheaper price. This is a habit that can save quite a bit of money and is more cost effective than buying the just a small quantity of the item. Bulk shopping can be done on a variety of different items that you often buy.

Bulk Shopping For Cleaning Supplies

Bulk shopping for cleaning supplies can be done on items that you will use on a weekly basis to make your home clean and disinfected. Instead of buying name brand cleaning supplies, look at a variety of generic brands that will offer the same cleaning power.

Many items such as floor cleaners, dish-washing liquid, and even bathroom cleaner can be purchased in bulk. It is a good idea to keep smaller empty bottles or purchase spray bottles to pour out some of the liquid to clean with. The savings here are endless as buying larger quantities can really save you money as these quantities will last longer.

Bulk Shopping For Toiletries

It is highly recommended to bulk shop for your toiletries. Items such as shampoo, lotion, conditioner and mouthwash can be purchased on sale in larger quantities. Bathroom tissue can be bought in big bundles and stored in a cupboard. Look for the toiletries that your family uses everyday. Therefore, it will be important to find ways to save on these items as the quantities can be used very quickly.

Bulk Shopping For Food

Of course bulk shopping or food is a great for those conscious about their spending budget. Almost all grocery stores will offer weekly sale items. When non perishable food items go on sale, buy them in bulk. Even some perishable items such as fruit and vegetables can be purchased and canned or frozen for later consumption.

Your child might be struggling to start or complete his homework. However, as a parent we know how important it is for your child to get a good education and go on in life to find a great job. Therefore, as soon as your children start to receive homework, it will be a good idea to implement a homework schedule. This homework schedule is something you and your child can work out together and it can be flexible for days on which your child has extracurricular activities. But the schedule should be used to emphasize the importance of completing homework to receive a good education.

Constructing A Homework Schedule

To start constructing the homework schedule, think of a typical day after school for your child. Then write down all of the activities your child will do after they come home from school. This can help you develop a simple homework schedule to follow. Also if your child has chores in the evening, do not forget to factor these chores into the schedule.

A Sample Homework Schedule

A sample of a homework schedule could include:

4:00 PM: Return from school with 30 minute break for snack and relaxation
4:30 PM: Sit at desk and start on homework.
6:30 PM: Break for dinner
7:30 PM: Return to desk and complete homework.

This is a very simple plan that can be used as a guideline, and the days on which chores or extracurricular activities have to be completed can be added to the schedule. The homework schedule created should be drafted with your child and placed in an area that is visible to both of you. You should also encourage your child to stick to the homework schedule and reward the child’s behavior when they do so. Depending on your child’s age, the days when your child does not have homework can be used to do other things such as an arts and craft project.

Every time that I turn on the news it appears as if there is another young teen that is missing. In the majority of the cases of missing children or teens, the Internet is involved. These young children meet someone through social media sites or chat rooms, befriend these people they believe are friends and meet up. Only by the time they meet up with the so called friend do they realize that these people aren’t children like them but adults looking for young prey.

As a stay at home mother, this worries me. My children at the moment are too young to be using the Internet. Sure they can play on some sites but there is no way they can have a Facebook at the ages that they are. They can barely type! However, these news reports do worry me because my children will get older and will get Facebook accounts, Myspace accounts or whatever is popular when they are that age.

While as a mother I can only do my best by educating my children on the dangers of the Internet and not meeting people in public, it might not be enough. Even at this young age I have considered trying out some of the latest social media monitoring software programs out there. These programs allow me to monitor what they do on their Facebook accounts or who they are talking to. Should they be talking to someone that I don’t know, I’ll know because of this software.

At the moment these measures are just preemptive. While I truly believe that my children and I will have the kind of relationship that is open and honest, there is just something about the Internet that encourages them to be secretive and keep things from their mother.

Before my children become the next news item on the six o’clock news, I will prevent it before it happens.

Not many people are aware of the free items that are available to them. These free items can be anything such a food samples to more exiting things such as perfume makeup, or even CDs. Free items or freebies are great to give as small gift, or can be a handy to way to just spoil and pamper yourself.

Visit Your Local Department Store

One of the first places to look for freebies in your local area is a nearby department store. The makeup, perfumer or toiletry sections of a department store can often give away free items. These free samples allow you to try out a new product. These freebies are also great stocking stuffers or thank you gifts for a friend or your child’s teacher. Some women in the past have used these free items to give themselves a mini make-over. Therefore, check your local department store for any free offers.

Visit Your Grocery Store

A smart person once said that food is the gift that keeps on giving. This is true, especially when the food is free. Free food can be obtained from promotion at your grocery store. To get you to buy a product, some grocery stores will offer free samples or will give a coupon for a free sample. It is their hope that you will buy more of this new product after you have tasted it. Freebies are also a way for you to be able to try new food products that have been launched.

Visit Your Favorite Restaurants

Your favorite restaurants might also be a source of freebies. Anything from free beverages, starters, main meals or desserts might be available for free. Spend some time contacting your favorite restaurants for any special deals they might have. Some offer two meals for the price of one or a free dessert on your birthday.
